Eurostat: EU27-Iran foreign trade in January 2024 generated 849 million Euro (+9%). The 27 EU coun­tries ex­por­ted goods worth € 704 million Euro (+10%) to Iran and impor­ted goods worth 145 million Euro (+4%). Ger­­many was the most important EU trade partner of Iran, with a trade volume of 280 million Euro, followed by Italy (124 million Euro), Romania (91 million Euro) and the Ne­therlands (88 mil­li­on Euro). 

The European Union (EU27) export of goods to Iran in the first two month of the year 2024 stood at 704 mil­lion Euro, an increase of 10% compared to January till February 2023. Accor­ding to the latest data by Eurostat, the sta­­tis­tical office of the European Union, 34% of the EU exports to Iran came from Germany that de­livered goods worth 241 million Euro, that was 22% more than in the first two month of the year 2023. Second (12%) was Italy with exports worth 86 million Euro (+3%) fol­lowed by Romania (85 million Euro, +64%) and the Ne­ther­lands (79 million Euro, -15%).

From January to February 2024 the 27 EU countries imported goods worth 145 million Euro from Iran (+4%). Most of the Ira­nian exports to the European Union (27%) went to Ger­ma­ny, which im­ported goods worth 39 million Euro from Iran (-16%), followed by Italy (38 million Euro, +51%) and Spain (16 million Euro, +21%). 

Iran’s non-oil trade stood at $115.533 billion during the last year 1402 (March 21-March 19), according to the data released by the Isla­mic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), that is 1% more than in the year 1401.

The export volume of non-oil goods (excluding crude oil, fuel oil and kerosene and also without con­sidering exports of luggage trade) in the year 1402 valued at $49.329 billi­on, while the im­ports valued at $66.204 billion in the last year. During the mentioned pe­ri­od, the export drop­ped by 9 percent in terms of value, however, the imports in­crea­s­ed by 10 percent in value, as compared to the year 1401.  

China (13.915 Billion US-Dollar), Iraq (9.215 Billion US-Dollar), the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (6.611 Bil­­lion US-Dollar), Turkey (4.160 Billion US-Dollar) and India (2.173 Billion US-Dollar) were the top five export desti­na­ti­ons of Iranian non-oil goods in the year 1402.

The UAE (20.782 Billion US-Dollar), China (18.545 Billion US-Dollar), Turkey (7.541 Billion US-Dol­lar), Ger­­ma­ny (2.155 Billion US-Dollar) and India (1.917 Billion US-Dollar) were the top five sources of im­port.

Die Lufthansa verlängerte die Aussetzung geplanter Flüge in und aus der iranischen Hauptstadt Teheran bis Donnerstag. Das Luftfahrt-Bundesamt warnte Airlines vor Flügen in den Iran - es bestehe die Gefahr eines unbeabsichtigten Abschusses ziviler Flüge, teilte die Behörde ihre Einschätzung zur Gefahrenlage mit.

Aufgrund der aktuellen kritischen Lage im Nahost-Konflikt werden auch die AUA Flüge bis 18. April ausgesetzt. Die Austrian Airlines (AUA) setzen ihre Flüge aufgrund der Eskalation zwischen dem Iran und Israel bis einschließlich Donnerstag, 18. April aus. Langstrecken, die durch den iranischen Luftraum führen, werden entsprechend umgeleitet, heißt es in einer Aussendung der Fluglinie.

The Statistical Center of Iran has released a new report on inflation in the last Iranian year (started March 21). According to the latest data, the annualized inflation for the month under review (Esfand) stood at 40.7%, down from 42.5% in the month before. 

In terms of year-on-year CPI rise, “hotels and restaurants” with 49.0 saw the highest among 12 groups of goods and services; ‘housing incl. water, gas, electricity, etc.’ were 41.2% and food and beverages were 25.0% more expensive in the month of Esfand than in the same month of the previous year. The Consumer Price Index was reported at 230,2 indicating a 32.3% rise compared to the same month of the year before.
